What is a Wiki?
The February edition of Law Practice Today has a great article on wikis in the legal world, written by Dennis Kennedy and Tom Mighell (two of the legal industries leading marketing and technology gurus).
The one thing I think Dennis and Tom should have mentioned is using a wiki to run your own web site! Yes it’s a shameless plug, but (like blogging before it) there seems to too narrow a view about wiki technology. A wiki is a collaborative tool, but only if that’s how you choose to use it. It’s a publishing platform that can be used in 100s of ways, including running a great web site. Of course, how you use a wiki will depend on the platform you choose, but most should get the job done.
We use multiple wikis on the Employment Law Information Network, none of which look like a wiki at all!
